The Session Notes is a series of interviews with the people who make music work: the players, teachers, engineers, bookers, managers, and label people doing the daily work of a music career. Every two weeks, one new conversation.
Every interview ends with the same question: who should I talk to next? That is how this grows, one introduction at a time, from local musicians toward the wider industry.
The Session Notes is written by Damon Uyehara, a senior at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, California.
Damon came up through high school band and drumline. In 2026 he performed as a snare drummer with Blue Devils C in stadiums including the Rose Bowl and Stanford Stadium. That experience sparked a deeper curiosity about how working musicians and artists actually grow, what their creative process looks like, and how the business really works.
This project is his attempt to find out by talking to the people already inside the industry. Damon plans to build a career in music, supporting artists and contributing to the growth of the scene, and these conversations are where that work begins.
